I'm Thijs Meulenbelt, founder of Schedulinq. Schedulinq came out of my own frustration. I ran a successful installation business with engineers out on the road, but it was eating up more and more of my planning time. How do you make sure three engineers get the most out of their day without crisscrossing the region? Every week it got more complicated.
My days got busy. So did my evenings. Phone calls, leaving voicemails, getting called back at the worst possible moment. Spreadsheets full of ticks and last-minute changes. Customers booking times that split my day in two. It wasn't a craft anymore. It was admin.
I tried the well-known booking tools. Calendly, plannen.nl, a handful of others. All fine products, built for people behind a desk. Not one of them looked at where my engineers already had to be that day. They read my calendar and ignored my route.
Until I realised: this solution isn't going to exist unless I build it myself. As it happens, I'm also a software developer. In my spare hours I built a first version of Schedulinq, one with geographic awareness baked in from the very first line of code. Not as a feature, but as the foundation.
Today I've sold my stake in the installation business to focus entirely on Schedulinq. Schedulinq wasn't dreamed up in a boardroom, but in a van and at a kitchen table. Built by an entrepreneur, for entrepreneurs. Because it genuinely solves something: not just for my engineers back then, but for every business owner who works on location.
